On April 2, reports indicated that after surging for several months, the prices of consumer-grade memory sticks have undergone a significant correction. This shift has swiftly reverberated through the downstream second-hand digital market. Previously, a shortage of memory chips had fueled a thriving trend in recycling discarded mobile phones for "component extraction." However, this trend has now cooled down, leading to a more rational pricing structure for recycled old mobile phones. Insights from the second-hand mobile phone recycling market in Huaqiangbei, Shenzhen, reveal that while consumers continue to inquire about prices, merchant quotes have noticeably softened. Multiple merchants have reported that the decline in spot memory prices has had a direct impact on the mobile phone recycling market, with some popular models experiencing a price drop of up to 100 yuan within a single week. One merchant provided an example, noting that a particular second-hand mobile phone, which fetched 1,000 yuan in recycling last week, may now be priced at just 900 yuan. Merchants have also observed that the previous large-scale influx of old mobile phones into the market has led to saturation, effectively erasing any premium that older devices might have commanded.
