As per a survey conducted by TrendForce, the mobile phone market steps into its traditional peak season during the latter half of the year. The launch of new models is set to propel global smartphone production in the third quarter of 2025. This will lead to a 9% increase quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) and a 7% increase year-on-year (YoY), with the total production volume reaching 328 million units. Such growth marks a significant uptick in the seasonal production momentum.

In the fourth quarter, the introduction of new models, coupled with inventory preparations for e-commerce promotional events, will continue to bolster demand. Nevertheless, the tight supply of memory components and their escalating prices are expected to squeeze the profit margins of low-end smartphones. This situation could potentially dampen some of the positive growth momentum.

The institution projects that smartphone production for the entire year of 2025 will witness a 1.6% increase year-on-year. However, it does not dismiss the possibility of further downward revisions to this forecast, given the potential impact of memory supply constraints.
