Large-capacity batteries introduce a degradation challenge that most product announcements underplay. NEC addresses it with an AI-managed charging profile designed to retain approximately 72.7% of original capacity after five years of use — again, a manufacturer claim that has not been independently verified. The approach adjusts charge patterns based on usage habits, avoiding always charging to 100% — a technique that independent research on lithium-ion cell chemistry has shown to meaningfully extend cycle life by reducing calendar aging at high states of charge.
