Recently, American billionaire Elon Musk generated widespread buzz by asserting that he would bestow one SpaceX stock upon every child in the United States. As reported by The Wall Street Journal on October 19, Musk took to social media that day, indicating that this move was merely the opening salvo in a series of forthcoming initiatives. Given that SpaceX stock closed at $147.96 on the 19th, and considering there are roughly 73 million children under the age of 18 in the United States, the total value of such a giveaway could soar to nearly $11 billion. President Trump mentioned that these stocks would be channeled through government-supported investment accounts established during his tenure. New regulations unveiled by the U.S. Treasury Department last month have paved the way for affluent donors to contribute stocks to children's accounts.

According to Forbes' real-time billionaire rankings, Musk holds the title of the world's wealthiest individual, boasting a net worth surpassing $900 billion, with the lion's share stemming from his stake in SpaceX. Musk has indeed made significant charitable contributions in the past. For instance, in 2021, he donated Tesla stocks valued at approximately $5.7 billion for philanthropic causes. However, he harbors reservations about conventional philanthropic approaches. In 2012, he pledged to the "Giving Pledge," vowing to donate half of his fortune. Yet, as of the end of last year, his nonprofit entity, the Musk Foundation, boasted assets exceeding $14 billion, but over the past four years, the foundation has fallen short of fulfilling the legally mandated minimum donation threshold.
