China has successfully launched its first independently developed satellite of the Wuyang Constellation, Pilot A (Guangda-1), from a sea-based launch platform situated in the Yellow Sea near Rizhao, Shandong Province. The satellite was carried into space aboard a Ceres-1 sea-launch carrier rocket. This achievement signifies the official initiation of networking efforts for the world’s inaugural low-latitude high-frequency remote sensing observation network. Looking ahead, the Wuyang Constellation is poised to deliver real-time sensing, transmission, and utilization of remote sensing data services across various sectors, including emergency disaster relief, precision agriculture, marine surveillance, and port shipping, thereby bolstering China’s pursuit of high-quality development.
