According to a report by Cailian Press on October 17, 2026, quantitative fund giant Two Sigma Investments has cut senior staff in its real estate division and stopped fundraising and new investments for the unit, just two years after opening it up to outside capital. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Rich Gomel, the division's partner and chief investment officer, will depart, along with other members of the real estate leadership team. It is reported that Two Sigma originally planned to raise approximately $2 billion for the division but ultimately achieved less than half of that target amid a challenging fundraising environment.
