SpaceX is driving the transformation of Starlink Mobile from a satellite direct-to-device service reliant on partnerships with terrestrial carriers to a mobile network capable of competing with AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile in the United States. On October 8, SpaceX announced two major developments: first, it reached an agreement to acquire nationwide 800MHz low-band spectrum, and second, it secured approval from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for its next-generation Starlink Mobile satellite constellation. SpaceX stated that these resources will enable it to integrate satellite and terrestrial networks, providing users with connectivity indoors, outdoors, and in areas with weak traditional cellular coverage.
