On September 20, 2026, the linear accelerator of the Hefei Advanced Light Facility (HALF) in the Future Big Science City, Hefei, Anhui, successfully extracted a beam, marking a crucial step forward in the construction of this major national scientific and technological infrastructure project. HALF is a fourth-generation low-energy synchrotron radiation facility based on diffraction-limited storage ring technology. Its soft X-ray brightness and coherence are more than a hundred times greater than those of the third generation, providing an important platform for research in multiple fields.
