On September 20, the Pengcheng NK-1 satellite was triumphantly launched into orbit via the Lijian-1 Yao-18 carrier rocket. This collaborative project, undertaken by Galaxy Space, Pengcheng Laboratory, and the Southern University of Science and Technology—with Pengcheng Laboratory acting as the primary end-user—features cutting-edge technologies including 5G Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) communication, digital retina in-orbit computing, and satellite-ground laser communication systems. The satellite is set to conduct comprehensive validation tests for 5G-NTN satellite-ground communication links, onboard AI-driven intelligent computing capabilities, and ultra-high-speed 100Gbps satellite-ground laser communication. These advancements are poised to revolutionize intelligent analysis and processing of remote sensing imagery, providing a solid technical groundwork for the development of the 6G communication network infrastructure.
