The White House issued a statement announcing that U.S. President Trump signed a proclamation to adjust metal tariffs. The new regulation expands the category of industrial equipment subject to a 15% tariff to include mobile equipment, such as bulldozers and forklifts, but only for imports from countries that enjoy relevant treatment under trade agreements. Additionally, the new regulation encourages foreign companies to use U.S. steel and aluminum by offering a 10% tariff rate if their capital equipment contains at least 85% steel or aluminum that has been melted, cast, or smelted and cast in the United States.
