On February 13, a groundbreaking achievement was made as China’s inaugural heavy-duty gas turbine flexible excitation system commenced operations at Unit No. 2 (9F-class) of the Huadian Banshan Power Plant, located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. This milestone signifies the first-ever implementation of flexible excitation technology in large-scale primary power sources across the nation, with the primary objective of bolstering the stability of power grid functioning. During periods of peak electricity demand, the system is capable of contributing an extra 200,000 kilowatts of power capacity, effectively catering to the extreme peak electricity needs of roughly 30,000 households.
