On December 29, a landmark strategic cooperation agreement was signed in Shanghai between the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC). During the event, Chen Jining, the Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, and Mayor Gong Zheng, engaged in a cordial meeting with a delegation from SPIC, led by its Chairman Liu Mingsheng and General Manager Xu Shubiao. They were also present to witness the historic signing.
As outlined in the agreement, both parties are set to harness their unique strengths, fostering robust collaboration in pivotal sectors. These include nuclear energy, gas turbine technology, ensuring a reliable power supply, facilitating the clean transition of thermal power, advancing green energy initiatives, and supporting international expansion endeavors ("going global"). This partnership aims to create a synergy that leverages the complementary advantages of central and local entities, paving the way for mutual prosperity.
The collaboration is envisioned to propel SPIC towards its goal of becoming a globally recognized clean energy leader. Simultaneously, it will provide significant impetus to Shanghai's efforts in constructing a modern industrial framework and expediting its transformation into a socialist modern international metropolis with a far-reaching global impact.
In a related development during the ceremony, the Administrative Bureau of the Eastern Hub International Business Cooperation Zone and China Power entered into a Memorandum of Understanding, marking another step forward in their collaborative journey.
