On December 27, 2025 (local time), the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency granted the manufacturer a certificate of approval for major model modifications to the Tu-214 aircraft. The Tu-214 has now earned the distinction of being Russia’s first civil aircraft to achieve complete import substitution. The Russian Minister of Industry and Trade highlighted that the domestically developed airborne collision avoidance system and ground proximity warning system installed on the aircraft have broken the global monopoly previously held by a single foreign company. According to the plan, annual production of the Tu-214 is set to increase to 20 aircraft by the end of 2027, with the first batch slated for delivery in 2025.
