On April 24, it was announced that the communications industry enjoyed smooth operations in the first quarter, marked by sustained growth in both the volume and revenue of telecommunications services. The development of new infrastructure progressed seamlessly, witnessing an expanding user base for 5G, gigabit, and IoT services, alongside a surge in mobile internet access traffic. During the first quarter, cumulative telecommunications business revenue amounted to 446.9 billion yuan, registering a year-on-year increase of 0.7%, while total business volume soared by 7.7% compared to the previous year. As of March's end, the total count of fixed broadband internet access users stood at 678 million, recording a net addition of 8.218 million, and the total number of mobile phone users reached 1.8 billion, with a net increase of 9.945 million.
