At the recently concluded 2026 Global Optical Fiber and Cable Conference, numerous industry experts highlighted that digital general-purpose optical fibers have surpassed a 30% share in the overall demand for optical fibers this year. The burgeoning demand for optical modules has significantly spurred the need for optical fibers, which are now increasingly posing as a bottleneck in the deployment of computing infrastructure. With data rates escalating continuously, specialty optical fibers—such as high-end multimode, polarization-maintaining, ultra-low-loss, hollow-core, and multi-core fibers—along with their corresponding connectors, are poised to emerge as one of the primary growth sectors within the industry.
