On July 28, SAKURA Internet, a prominent Japanese cloud service provider, revealed that its board of directors has given the green light to an investment of around 26 billion yen. This substantial investment is earmarked for the acquisition of GPU servers and associated hardware essential for delivering generative artificial intelligence services. The funds will be directed towards procuring server rack systems outfitted with cutting-edge NVIDIA HGX Rubin NVL8 GPUs, along with networking and storage solutions. This strategic move is aimed at bolstering SAKURA Internet's capabilities in generative AI services and sharpening its competitive edge in the market. The company clarified that the majority of the investment would be financed through loans from financial institutions. The anticipated delivery date for the equipment is January 2027, with the specific operational deployment timeline yet to be finalized.
