On the afternoon of July 18, during the “Future Computing, Future Computing Power” thematic forum at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Shanghai’s landmark space digital infrastructure project, the “Star Hub Initiative,” officially launched its first constellation. This initiative stands as a flagship space computing industry project prioritized by Shanghai, aiming to become the city’s leading space computing constellation project. The project will progress in three stages: the engineering verification stage will see the launch of 2 computing satellites and 12 edge computing satellites; the commercial deployment stage will involve the launch of 50 computing satellites and 100 edge computing satellites; and during the commercial operation stage, a full thousand-satellite deployment will be achieved.
