On July 18th, news surfaced indicating that Meta is in the initial stages of discussions with AI startup Anthropic. The talks center around Anthropic potentially renting computing power from Meta's AI data centers, with the prospective deal value reaching up to $10 billion over a span of two years. At present, these negotiations are still in their formative phase, with the specific terms undergoing refinement. There remains a chance that the two parties may not ultimately strike a deal. Anthropic put forth this collaborative proposal in June, and it is currently under Meta's careful consideration. As per the proposal, Anthropic would likely make monthly payments, and importantly, both sides retain the option to terminate the agreement prematurely if needed.
