Recently, Guangdong Province has put forward the "14th Five-Year Plan (Draft for Public Comments)" for the information and communications industry, inviting public feedback. The plan sets forth a series of strategic initiatives aimed at advancing the large-scale deployment of 5G-A networks. It emphasizes the need for coordinated, province-wide 5G-A infrastructure development, delving deeper into the application of technologies like carrier aggregation, uplink enhancement, and the seamless integration of communication and intelligence. These efforts are designed to bolster the overall network supply capabilities of 5G-A and solidify Guangdong's preeminent position in the 5G landscape across the nation.
Simultaneously, the plan underscores the importance of ongoing monitoring of 5G-A base station construction. This ensures that key areas, such as industrial parks and transportation hubs, achieve a remarkable downlink peak rate of 10 Gbps, while urban centers provide a robust uplink peak rate of 1 Gbps.
Furthermore, the plan also outlines strategies to accelerate the deployment of 10-gigabit optical networks. This involves launching a fresh wave of pilot projects, gradually extending coverage from residential areas and factories to commercial buildings, campuses, hospitals, and beyond. By selecting exemplary demonstration projects, summarizing and disseminating best practices, the plan aims to catalyze the broader deployment of 50G-PON networks.
