SoftBank Group founder Masayoshi Son recently publicly questioned Elon Musk's vision of building AI data centers in space, arguing that the economic benefits of such a move would be limited. According to The Wall Street Journal, Son questioned the significance of the plan when addressing Japanese investors. He pointed out that electricity accounts for only about 7% of the operational costs of data centers, with hardware costs such as chips being the major expense.
