As per a Bloomberg news release dated October 13, Alphabet, Google's parent entity, is set to inject more than $10 billion into southern India for the construction of a 1-gigawatt data center. This move underscores Google's substantial foray into the Indian market. Nara Lokesh, India's Technology Minister for Andhra Pradesh, revealed that the data center is slated for completion within a two-year timeframe in the coastal city of Visakhapatnam. Furthermore, he emphasized that this project stands as a pivotal element in the state's ambition to attain a cumulative data center capacity of 6 gigawatts by the year 2029.
