Michael Dell, Chairman and CEO of Dell Technologies, recently pointed out that the global semiconductor industry's memory supply constraints are far from being alleviated and are expected to worsen further by 2027. With the accelerated construction of artificial intelligence data centers, the supply pressure on DRAM and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) continues to increase. Dell currently holds approximately $95 billion in AI server orders, but memory shortages have become a major obstacle to delivery. New memory factories require about four years for construction, and significant new capacity is not expected until 2029 or 2030, making the memory shortage situation even more severe in 2027.
