The overheating and melting issues of the 16-pin power connector on NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card have long been a concern. Despite design improvements by graphics card manufacturers and connector standardization bodies, the reliability of power supply for high-power-consuming graphics cards remains unresolved. Recently, a hardware enthusiast proposed a new solution: abandoning the 16-pin connector and instead using four traditional PCIe 8-pin power connectors to distribute current across more wires, thereby reducing the electrical and thermal load on individual wires and connection points.
