During the midday break on October 16, 2026, the Hang Seng Index rose by 1.21%, while the Hang Seng Tech Index climbed by 2.09%. Pharmaceutical stocks performed strongly, with Maccura Biotechnology surging over 86%, T-Cure Bioscience rising more than 36%, and Cuyan soaring over 20%. The semiconductor sector also strengthened, with Fudan Microelectronics gaining over 13%, and Montage Technology and Axera both rising more than 6%. The electrical equipment sector declined, with Sungrow Power Supply and Contemporary Amperex Technology both falling over 1%. Additionally, southbound capital recorded a net outflow of HKD 743 million.
