On September 11, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly issued a relevant plan. This plan highlights the critical role of technological innovation in agriculture and puts forward the idea of establishing an innovative system for smart agriculture. This system will cover basic research, applied research, and R&D manufacturing. The plan is set to propel ongoing innovation in smart agricultural technology models, with a particular emphasis on achieving breakthroughs in key technologies such as agricultural sensors, specialized chips, core algorithms, robots, and intelligent breeding design tools. Simultaneously, it will roll out initiatives aimed at fostering high-quality development in agricultural machinery and equipment, promoting the use of intelligent agricultural machinery for highly precise operations, and enhancing the quality inspection system for technical equipment. Moreover, the plan advocates for collaborative R&D efforts that integrate digital and intelligent technologies with agricultural machinery and agronomy. It also supports trials of unmanned agricultural machinery operations, boosts the intelligence level of agricultural production, and encourages eligible regions to establish technological innovation centers for digital villages.
