Based on the most recent research on the IC design industry conducted by TrendForce, as the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) continue to expand extensively, there has been a significant uptick in the demand for Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), Central Processing Units (CPUs), Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), and interconnect products. It is estimated that by the second quarter of 2026, the combined revenue of the top 10 fabless IC design companies across the globe will experience a remarkable 73% year-on-year growth, soaring to USD 141.45 billion. Among these companies, NVIDIA continues to hold its dominant position. Meanwhile, AMD has ascended to the third spot, thanks to the increased utilization of its CPUs in agent-based AI applications. On the other hand, Qualcomm has slipped to the fourth position, primarily due to a downturn in its mobile phone business.
