On September 10th, according to The Wall Street Journal, Positron, an AI chip startup focused on designing hardware to accelerate the operation of AI models, announced the completion of an $875 million funding round at a $5 billion valuation, marking a significant increase in the company's value within just half a year. This funding round was co-led by venture capital firms NEA, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, Andra Capital, SemiAnalysis Capital (founded by analyst Dylan Patel), and Netscape co-founder Jim Clark. In its previous funding round in February this year, Positron raised $230 million at a $1 billion valuation. Positron revealed that it has delivered approximately 50 Atlas server racks to Oracle, with its clients also including financial firm Jump Trading and AI company Parasail. Positron is accelerating the process of bringing its chips to market, striving to secure a favorable position in the fiercely competitive chip market.
