On September 7, TrendForce's latest memory industry analysis disclosed that during the second quarter of 2026, the DRAM sector experienced a notable 59.5% quarter-over-quarter revenue growth, soaring to approximately US$154.73 billion. This surge was primarily driven by a substantial hike in contract prices for Conventional DRAM. From a demand perspective, the training of Large Language Model (LLM) and AI inference activities have fueled a significant uptick in demand for AI servers. This has been accompanied by a synchronized enhancement—meaning simultaneous increases—in shipments of High Bandwidth Memory 3e (HBM3e), Low Power Double Data Rate 5X (LPDDR5X), and high-capacity Registered Dual Inline Memory Modules (RDIMMs). Furthermore, the proliferation of Agentic AI applications has spurred the procurement of RDIMMs across various capacity specifications, further bolstering demand.

On the supply front, inventories held by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) remain lean. New production capacities have been strategically allocated to cater predominantly to server applications. This prioritization has resulted in a moderate, albeit steady, increase in overall DRAM bit shipments during the second quarter, underscoring the ongoing challenge of aligning supply with the burgeoning demand.
