Following a robust rally in the A-share market's technology sector during the first half of the year, July witnessed a significant structural shift. As investor sentiment tempered, research endeavors by private equity firms surged to unprecedented levels. Data from third-party organizations reveal that 690 private equity firms engaged in research on listed companies in July, spanning 294 companies across nearly 30 Shenwan Level-1 industries, with a total of 1,578 research sessions—marking a 4.78% uptick from June. Remarkably, despite substantial corrections in the technology sector in July, private equity firms maintained a keen focus on technology sub-sectors, including electronics, telecommunications, and computers. Nine out of the top ten most-researched stocks were technology-centric. Xing Yicai, Research Director at Ziruixing Investment, advocates for a 'dual-pronged approach' in current portfolio allocation: technology holdings offer offensive agility, while non-technology positions in consumer goods, banking, and dividend-paying stocks provide defensive resilience.
