In an interview with South Korea's Maeil Business News, Kwak Dong-shin, the Chairman of Hana Microelectronics, revealed that given the expected scarcity of AI semiconductor equipment commencing next year, Hana Microelectronics is mulling over the construction of an eighth factory. This new facility, once completed, is set to become the company's largest production site. Kwak Dong-shin anticipates that from next year onwards, there will be a shortage of semiconductor equipment. The planned new factory will be situated adjacent to the seventh factory, which is currently under construction in Incheon. Hana Microelectronics noted that as global chip manufacturers ramp up their investments, the market demand for its thermocompression bonders and hybrid bonders is poised for rapid growth. Additionally, the company has plans to set up a U.S. subsidiary in San Jose, California, by the end of 2026, aiming to bolster its technical support services.
