On June 25th, Apple revealed that it would be increasing the prices of certain Mac, iPad, and home devices, a move prompted by escalating costs due to a scarcity of memory chips and storage. This shortage has been exacerbated by the expansion of AI data centers. Among the notable price hikes, the MacBook Neo will now start at $699, up from its previous price of $599. Similarly, the MacBook Air will see a price jump from $1,099 to $1,299. The entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro will cost $1,999, an increase from $1,699. For iPads, the 11-inch iPad Pro will now retail at $1,199, up from $999, and the iPad Air will go up from $599 to $749. This price adjustment will be implemented globally, although iPhone prices will remain stable for the time being. An Apple spokesperson explained that the company had previously made efforts to mitigate cost increases but is now compelled to adjust prices accordingly.
