Due to the United States' export limitations on high-performance AI chips, the Chinese market has encountered a significant supply shortage. Nevertheless, the appetite for Nvidia's hardware in China continues to be strong. Based on the reports from Chinese chip distributors, the cost of Nvidia's premier DGX B300 AI server has soared to over RMB 8 million (roughly equivalent to $1.1 million) on China's black market. This price is substantially higher than its US retail price, which hovers around $400,000. Earlier, the server's price in the Chinese mainland market had already nearly doubled, jumping from approximately RMB 4 million at the close of last year to RMB 7 million. Despite these exorbitant costs, the demand for the server still surpasses its availability. Consequently, some AI firms, facing financial constraints, have transitioned from buying to leasing the equipment.
