STMicroelectronics has unveiled the world's inaugural single-chip marvel—the ST54M secure mobile chip, which seamlessly integrates a Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) hardware accelerator. Tailored explicitly for smartphones and personal electronic gadgets, this chip amalgamates a PQC hardware accelerator, Near Field Communication (NFC), Secure Element (SE), and eSIM capabilities. It caters to a wide array of applications, including contactless payments, access control management, and digital identity verification. The ST54M offers comprehensive support for PQC standards like ML-KEM and ML-DSA, as promulgated by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). It boasts robust resistance against side-channel attacks and fault injection attacks, ensuring unparalleled security. Already, it has secured Common Criteria 2022 EUCC and EMVCo certifications, paving the way for its mass production next month.
