Qualcomm announced on Wednesday that as it shifts its business focus from smartphone chips to other areas, it expects its data center business sales to reach US$15 billion by 2029. This news drove Qualcomm's stock price up more than 12% in after-hours trading on Wednesday. Qualcomm's Chief Financial Officer stated that data center business revenue will reach US$5 billion in fiscal year 2027, with US$1 billion coming from new custom chip customers. Qualcomm also revealed that Microsoft and Meta will adopt its new AI chips and are currently customizing chips for two hyperscale cloud service providers.
