During the annual investor day event held in New York, the leader of Qualcomm's data center division announced that the company is poised to introduce a data center CPU by mid-2028. Qualcomm executives disclosed that, commencing in the first quarter of 2027, custom chips are projected to start yielding significant revenue for the firm. Microsoft intends to incorporate Qualcomm's High Bandwidth Computing (HBC) chips into its Azure data centers. Presently, Qualcomm is utilizing the AI250 accelerator to refine the first generation of HBC products, which are anticipated to reach the market by mid-2027. Meanwhile, the second generation of HBC chips is slated for release in 2028.
