On June 22, Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, revealed in the latest industry survey that Google is set to develop an upgraded version of the v9 chip, internally codenamed Triggerfish. This new chip will be based on the existing TPU v9/Humufish chip architecture, with MediaTek being the sole recipient of these additional orders. Although the projected shipment volume for the Humufish chip remains steady at 4 to 5 million units, Google has also placed orders for an extra 1 to 2 million units of the Triggerfish chips. Production of these new chips is slated to begin by the end of 2027, with full-scale mass production anticipated in 2028. Notably, since the unit price of Triggerfish chips is roughly 30% higher than that of Humufish, this development is poised to serve as a significant catalyst for MediaTek's revenue growth in 2028.
