On May 4, industry sources stated that TSMC may restart the construction plan for its Longtan fab, with plans to introduce next-generation angstrom-level processes and an investment ranging from NT$500 billion to NT$600 billion (approximately US$19 billion). Previously, TSMC abandoned the plan in October 2023 due to local opposition and shifted its focus on advanced manufacturing to Kaohsiung and Tainan.
