According to a research report by Korea Investment & Securities, even if the shortage of memory chips is alleviated, their prices will not significantly decline in the short term. AI hyperscalers have secured long-term capacity orders, which will extend the current memory supercycle and keep memory selling prices high. Increasing memory capacity can enhance GPU utilization. To reduce the processing cost per token and achieve higher system-level performance, AI companies are willing to purchase more memory chips. Although DRAM memory prices have tripled year-on-year, the benefits from improved GPU utilization are more substantial. Additionally, tight capacity and strong demand for HBM and DRAM have unexpectedly driven demand for NAND chips. NAND continues to see high demand due to its low price and high demand elasticity.
