According to reports from South Korean media, Samsung Electronics has announced that, starting from April 17, 2026, it will no longer accept new orders for LPDDR4 and LPDDR4X memory chips and will halt any further procurement of these products. The company is expected to completely cease production by the end of that year, redirecting its production capacity towards the more advanced LPDDR5/5X and HBM (High-Bandwidth Memory) technologies. The LPDDR4 standard made its debut in 2014, followed by the enhanced LPDDR4X version in 2017, both of which have enjoyed a relatively extended lifecycle in the market. Samsung's strategic shift could potentially open up new market opportunities for domestic memory chip manufacturers.
