On April 7, Samsung Electronics projected on Tuesday that its operating profit for the first quarter would surge more than eightfold year-on-year, surpassing market expectations. Affected by the development of artificial intelligence infrastructure, a bottleneck in chip supply has emerged, leading to rising prices. As the world's largest manufacturer of memory chips, Samsung Electronics expects its operating profit from January to March to reach KRW 57.2 trillion (approximately USD 37.92 billion), compared to KRW 6.69 trillion in the same period last year, higher than the market expectation of KRW 40.6 trillion.
