On January 1, news emerged that TSMC, the world's leading semiconductor foundry, declared it had secured a yearly permit from the US government. This permit enables TSMC to export chip-manufacturing equipment to its Nanjing facility in mainland China through 2026. In its official announcement, TSMC emphasized that this authorization would safeguard the uninterrupted operation of its wafer fabrication processes and the timely delivery of its products. Prior to this, both South Korea's Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix had also been granted yearly permits by the US government, allowing them to export chip-making equipment to China within the same year.
