TSMC has officially kicked off mass production of its N2 2nm process, adhering to the planned timeline for the fourth quarter of 2025. Although there hasn't been a widely publicized official announcement, the development is proceeding in line with the initial schedule. On TSMC's official website, specifically on the page dedicated to the 2nm process, it is clearly stated: 'TSMC's 2nm technology has commenced mass production as planned in the fourth quarter of 2025.' The N2 process marks TSMC's first foray into using GAA (Gate-All-Around nanosheet transistors) technology. When compared to the preceding N3E process, the N2 process delivers a 10 - 15% boost in performance while maintaining the same power consumption, a 20 - 25% reduction in power consumption at an equivalent performance level, and a 15% increase in transistor density. Moreover, TSMC has plans for subsequent upgrades, such as the N2P and N2X processes. At present, a multitude of companies, including NVIDIA, AMD, Apple, Qualcomm, and MediaTek, are poised to adopt this advanced process.
