At the China Pavilion during the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), in collaboration with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), unveiled the report titled Photovoltaics and Energy Storage Facilitate Energy Transition. The report highlights that lithium-ion battery energy storage stands out as the most cost-effective energy storage technology at present. Moreover, it underscores that the synergy of 'photovoltaics + energy storage' forms the most economically viable green power combination.
The report advises nations to establish national targets for energy storage installation, integrate energy storage into the overarching grid design and planning, and foster the coordinated growth of renewable energy and energy storage. Additionally, CATL disclosed the interim findings of its 'Global Energy Circulation Plan (GECC)' and revealed that it has already constructed nine zero-carbon battery factories. The company further outlined its ambitions to achieve 100% zero-carbon electricity for its Tier 1 suppliers by 2030 and attain carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2035.
