Microsoft is vigorously advancing the Windows on Arm platform, strategically positioning it as a high-efficiency, AI-driven next-generation operating system. With robust support from a growing array of native applications, Microsoft is now setting its sights on the music creation and live performance sectors. The company has announced its intention to introduce a new built-in low-latency audio driver in 2026. This driver, developed collaboratively by Microsoft, Qualcomm, and Yamaha, adheres to both USB Audio Class 2 and ASIO standards. Its primary goal is to empower musicians and audio professionals with studio-grade, stable performance capabilities.

At present, leading digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Steinberg Cubase, Nuendo, and REAPER have already been natively optimized for the Arm64 architecture. Additionally, Ableton Live has confirmed that it will release a native Arm64 version in 2026, further solidifying the platform's appeal in the music production community.

From a hardware perspective, major audio interface manufacturers—including Yamaha/Steinberg, RME, Focusrite, and Audient—have all rolled out native Arm64 drivers. This development enables creators to achieve low-latency, high-quality audio processing without the need for third-party solutions.
