During an investor relations gathering, National Silicon Industry Group disclosed that its 200mm silicon wafer segment is grappling with a sluggish rebound in capacity utilization. This slow recovery is mainly attributed to the lackluster demand from end - application sectors.
On the flip side, the 300mm silicon wafer business is faring much better. Presently, it enjoys a high capacity utilization rate. While the volume of 300mm silicon wafer shipments has seen an uptick, prices are still being squeezed due to intense domestic competition.
The underperformance of the 200mm silicon wafer business can be largely traced back to the overall market climate. At present, the semiconductor market is on a steady path of recovery. Given this trend, the company anticipates that the silicon wafer market will gradually heat up in the coming times.
