During the Q3 2025 earnings call, TSMC's CEO, C.C. Wei, announced that in response to the robust customer demand for AI-related applications, TSMC is expediting the process technology upgrades at its Arizona plant. This move is aimed at enabling the implementation of even more advanced manufacturing processes. Previously, TSMC has erected several wafer fabrication plants in Arizona. Among them, the first plant is already operational. The second plant is slated to manufacture 3nm chips, and the third is designed to incorporate 2nm and A16 technologies. Wei further disclosed that TSMC's 2nm process is set to kick off trial production this quarter, with a swift transition to mass production anticipated in 2026. Meanwhile, the A16 process is projected to commence mass production in the latter half of 2026.
