On October 12, 2025, a federal jury sitting in Marshall, Texas, delivered a verdict: Samsung Electronics was found guilty of infringing upon patents pertaining to wireless communication technology. As a result, Samsung is required to pay roughly $445.5 million (equivalent to approximately RMB 3.17 billion) in damages to Collision Communications, the patent holder. The infringement in question encompasses 4G, 5G, and WiFi communication standards.

The jury determined that a number of Samsung's wireless - communication - enabled products violated four patents owned by Collision. These patents are centered around technologies aimed at boosting the operational efficiency of wireless networks. In 2023, Collision initiated legal proceedings against Samsung, claiming that Samsung had used its patented technology, which originated from BAE Systems, without authorization. It's important to note that BAE Systems was not a party to this particular legal conflict.

Throughout the lawsuit, Samsung vehemently denied any infringement and contended that the patents at the center of the dispute were invalid. Nevertheless, the jury ultimately sided with Collision and ruled that Samsung should provide compensation.
