Recently, building on their extensive, long-standing research into lead-free piezoelectric ceramics, the research team headed by Professor Li Jingfeng from the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Tsinghua University, along with their research partners, has made remarkable strides in the preparation methods, as well as structural and performance optimization, of high-performance lead-free piezoelectric thin films. The study revealed that through process optimization, thin films based on potassium sodium niobate (KNN) can develop an interlocking, network-like biphasic structure. This structure substantially boosts piezoelectric performance, achieving a piezoelectric strain of up to 1.14%. Moreover, this material demonstrates exceptional linearity and remarkable stability across a broad frequency spectrum, from 1 to 100 kHz, with a mere 7% variation rate in strain.
