Qualcomm has made public that the Delaware court has thrown out the last remaining claim that Arm Holdings had leveled against it. The court ruled that Qualcomm, along with its subsidiary Nuvia, did not breach the licensing agreement with Arm. This decision marks Qualcomm's definitive and complete victory in the protracted legal battle between the two tech giants. Back in December 2024, Qualcomm had already triumphed in the trial concerning Arm's allegation that "Qualcomm violated the license for chip technology it obtained during its 2021 acquisition of Nuvia." Qualcomm's General Counsel emphasized that this ruling is a final verdict that goes entirely in Qualcomm's favor. In recent times, the smartphone chip market has witnessed a deceleration in its growth rate. Both Qualcomm and Arm are recalibrating their strategies to capitalize on the rising demand in the computing sector. SoftBank is the majority shareholder in Arm, a company that mainly offers chip design blueprints and licenses instruction sets. On the other hand, Qualcomm stands as the leading chip provider for a multitude of mobile phone manufacturers, with numerous large-scale global tech firms relying on Arm's architecture. It's also worth noting that Arm has intentions to challenge the final ruling.
