Two outstanding papers, originating from the Research Center for Power Electronics and New Energy Technology—under the leadership of Professor Liu Jinjun from the School of Electrical Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University—have clinched the prestigious 2024 Best Paper Awards presented by IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics. Among these accolades, one paper was recognized with the Best Short Paper Award, while the other secured the Second Prize for Best Paper.

The paper that garnered the Best Short Paper Award put forth an innovative control strategy tailored for frequency-tracking and voltage-construction-type converters. This breakthrough significantly broadens the grid-forming capabilities of power electronic converters, rendering them highly adaptable and suitable for a wide array of new energy scenarios.

Meanwhile, the paper that earned the Second Prize for Best Paper unveiled a pioneering circuit topology for megawatt-scale frequency converters. This topology is ingeniously based on three-phase high-frequency magnetic coupling modules. It achieves a remarkable feat by minimizing the energy stored in DC capacitors and reducing the weight of transformer magnetic cores. This achievement provides invaluable theoretical guidance for the advancement of high-power-density medium-voltage megawatt-scale frequency conversion technology.
